Walls in interior areas - Wall levelling over existing tile coverings

1

Check subsurface for load-bearing capacity, remove the separating layers, check suction performance. If required, free from dust, premoisten and prime.

2A Note

If ELEMENT-EL Baby 4 is used, always apply the fixing adhesive COL-AK over the full surface using a toothed trowel. This technique is also possible for thicker panels, depending on the substrate.

2B Note

When using ELEMENT-EL ≥ 6 mm, apply the fixing adhesive COL-AK pointwise on one side using dots of adhesive (8 – 10 pcs. per m2). Before applying adhesive pre-pierce the holes for the hammer fix plugs FIX-FID or FIX-KSD.

3

Position the ELEMENT construction panels at the top edge of the old tiling (knock off obstructive plaster clots before beginning, if necessary) and press to the wall.

4

Press on with the level and spirit level and align vertically and flush with the old tiling. Also pay attention to the horizontal alignment of the ELEMENT construction panels to one another!

5

Dowel after approx 3 hours. Select the correct dowel pins or fastening set to correspond with the existing masonry and plaster thickness. Pay attention to water and power lines! We recommend 6–8 dowels per m2. TIP: Pre-drill dowel holes

6

Reinforce the transition from the ELEMENT to the old tiling with glass fibre reinforcement strips ARM-100 SK.

7

Level out the glass fibre reinforcement strips, element joints and dowel pin heads with COL-AK. The surface is now ready for tiling. Further requirements (e.g. sealing for wet loads) must be taken into consideration in accordance with national directives.
